Miller and Himes share the message on a frenetic tour of the Northeastern region of the United States.
Himes uses his printing press to expedite the spread of the message. Soon after, a conference of like-minded believers from different churches is formed. Despite pressure from Himes, Miller bows out of the conference due to bad health. While at the conference, Himes meets retired sea captain Joseph Bates who pledges his resources and support to the cause.
